FAV FLICKS :

WHY WE JORDAN:

Our trip to Jordan was actually an overnight excursion from our Israel/Palestine trip. We wanted to make sure we saw the Lost City of Petra  (one of the Petra 7 World Wonders [debated to be 8]) since we were so close. Our overnight tour included time to see/explore the beauty of Jordan and an overnight glamping experience in the Wadi Rum desert (a UNESCO World Heritage site). The night was spent in a Bedouin campsite, which included dinner, and dancing.

We used Tourist Israel and were given tours by local Joran guides. (I cannot underscore how much we liked our Jordan tour guide. His wife, who was not there, made us her classic Jordan desert for everyone on the trip. This man was so sweet and of full of light.) Tourist Israel is great because they offer pick-up from Tel-Aviv, Jerusalem and Eilat. You can also do much longer trips.

OUR FAVRITE THINGS TO DO:

Visit Petra
Wadi Rum Jeep safari + Sand Dunes
Wadi Rum Bedouin camp Deluxe Tent
The full Petra Archaeological Park
Exploring Aqaba
The Gulf of Aqaba (Where you can see Jordan, Egypt & Israel)
Camel Ride in Wadi Rum
Lunch at Jordan's best hotel
Bedouin Dinner & Dancing with Nomads

A Candid Cost Calculation:

Accommodation – The pre-paid tour will include accommodations at a Wadi Rum Bedouin Camp. If you are only doing an overnight trip, leave your luggage at your Israel hotel and pack a light overnight bag.

Food – We really enjoyed the local food in Jordan! The tour guides will take you to a nice lunch and dinner places so you need not to worry about booking a place yourself. The best meal was prepared by the nomads at the Wadi Rum Bedouin Camp.

Transportation – All transportation, via bus, is taken care of by the tour. Just make sure to wear comfortable sneakers since you will be walking a lot.

Best of the Best – Seeing the Lost City of Petra is truly a breath-taking experience! It is located in the Petra Archaeological Park, where you will do a lot of walking. There are also prophecies of Petra in the Bible so I always love seeing those sights. Make sure to take as many pictures as you can but warning – the photos will never do this World Wonder justice.

PRO TIPS :

1
Pay for Petra Pics One ``tourist trap`` that is absolutely worth it is paying a local kid a few dollars to take you to the best spot to take pictures of petra away from the crowds. We had to climb a bit to get there so be sure to wear comfortable shoes. (You can also pay to get on a camel there but you will be in the middle of the crowd.)
2
Ride a Camel at Camp You may have to wake up early but riding a camel at the campsite and seeing the sunrise was an incredible experience. I much preferred this than getting on a camel at petra just to take a photo.
3
Upgrade the tent at the Bedouin camp We paid a little extra for the upgraded tent at the Wadi Rum camp. You truly feel like you're in a spaceship! There are curtains that you can open/close that give you an amazing view of the desert.
4
Dance at Dinner! If may feel like the nomadic locals are tailoring their dancing to simple moves that they feel like all tourist can do, because they are, but it is still fun to join in!
