FAV FLICKS :

WHY WE JAMAICA:

Jamaica the perfect blend of scenic wonder and cultural bliss. It is where my father-in-law grew up. Kingston will always be home to him ✨. I love my husband’s stories of his family taking trips there and his dad driving them all over the island when he was growing up. I’ve wanted to go for years and we finally went together for a wedding. Since we were there for a family member’s nuptials, we didn’t explore like we would have it were just a baecation. Yet, I know it is still an incredible place to visit, eat and appreciate the culture. Everything tastes so fresh (because it is) from their fruit, fish and famous Blue Mountain Coffee.

OUR FAVRITE THINGS TO DO:

Eating Jerk Chicken + Red Snapper
Bamboo Rafting on Martha Brae River
Dunn's River Falls
Negril's Seven Mile Beach
Zip-lining
Relaxing on resort
Bob Marley Museum
Rick’s Café, Negril
Eating Mom & Pop Shops

A Candid Cost Calculation:

Accommodation – There are countless amazing resorts in Jamaica. We stayed at the JOIA Rose Hall by Iberostar because that is where the destination wedding was. It is an Adults only hotel and an all-inclusive. Our room was spacious and of course we could choose to lay out by the resort pool or beach. I will never forget the resort’s cooking class on the beach – it was the best red snapper I ever had! I recommend booking your hotel in the area that you want explore most – Montego Bay, Negril and Ocho Rios are the most popular tourist destinations.

Food – Eat ALL of the food! The freshness will not disappoint in Jamaica. A simple mango, coconut or salad surpasses almost anywhere. Some of the best dishes are jerk chicken, oxtails, red snapper, any kind of curry and plantains.

Transportation – If you don’t want to be like my father-in -law and rent a car, you will mainly depend on taxis and transportation that comes with your tours.

Best of the Best – Seeing a couple tie the knot was truly the best of the best. THey had a beautiful beach ceremony and reception on the resort’s large patio. We danced all night for the sake of love 💕

PRO TIPS :

1
Drink Bottled Water It's not that the water is harmful in tourist areas but I generally try to drink bottled water in the Caribbean, just in case. It is hard to completely avoid as fruits/vegetables are washed in tap water and you'd have to completely avoid ice. Take only as much caution as you deem necessary.
2
Don't Wear Camouflage You may have the cutest camouflage fit, but it is illegal for civilians to wear in Jamaica. It is strictly reserved for the Jamaica Defence Forces.
3
Go Dancing Just one night. Whether it's a wedding reception, bar or club, the vibe in Jamaica is always great. I love live music so if there is a band - even better!
4
Explore, Relax Jamaica is definitely a place that you could go out exploring everyday. I don't recommend you do that. Plan to explore your top few things (or multiple places in a day) and spend a few days relaxing at the resort so you can come back refreshed. We typically alternate explore and relaxation days.
