FAV FLICKS :

WHY WE TURKS & CAICOS:

We knew that Turks & Caicos would be gorgeous with it’s reputation for crystal-clear water and gorgeous scenery. We had no idea it would end up being one of our favorite Caribbean islands! The Bahamas and Jamaica usually get all of the hype (and for good reason) but we found Turks & Caicos to be highly underrated. You can get all of the R&R that you need to feel recharged, adventure with tours and a super fun cultural and turn-up experience that you’ll be talking about for years!

Plan your trip around the famous Fish Fry that happens every Thursday. Do not just come to Turks & Caicos For a Friday – Mon/Tuesday long weekend because you’ll miss out on one of the best cultural experience on the island. Local and tourist are one at this outdoor weekly festival-like cookout (more details below).

Rapper Drake made Noah’s Ark very popular. Is is a floating beach club that you have to take a boat to get to. It is worth the trip but we definitely left early before it became too crowded. While very fun, expect everyone to show out & to see a lot of… plastic 🤣.

We also did one excursion to see more of the island via dune buggy. There are so many excursions to choose from (sunset horseback riding, saxophone sailboat dinner, clear boat tour). Book as many as you’d like! We only did one so we could also relax.

A Candid Cost Calculation:

Accommodation – We stayed at The Ritz Carlton Turks & Caicos. This is an expensive stay but we had a free stay from friend who works in TV giveaways. It’s a cool resort but you can find cheaper resorts in Grace Bay.

Food – As mentioned, the Fish Fry is a must! It is every Thursday from 5:30-9:30pm at the Stubbs Diamond Plaza in Providenciales (not far from Grace Bay). There are plenty of vendors there so don’t be afraid of the lines – they move quickly. We ate jerk chicken and rum punch. It is a MUST!

Our most romantic dinner was at Vita at Rock House, a restaurant at a cliff-side hotel. It was about a 20 minute taxi each way from where we stayed but worth it! For a minute I thought I transported to Positano in the Amfil Coast of Italy. The ambiance is good enough reason to come but we were equally as impressed with the food!

We celebrated hubby’s birthday at the Infiniti Restaurant & Raw Bar at a resort called, Grace Bay Club. Here you are dining by the sea so I recommend going around sunset for the best view.

On of our favorite dinner spots was a local restaurant called, Mr. Grouper’s. We actually went here for lunch on our dune buggy tour and was so impressed that we came back for dinner. We loved the mix of local and tourists coming. Definitely try the staple, fried grouper fish. I was highly impressed!

* Note dinners at resorts are pricey so a delicious local spot is the perfect budget-friendly change up.

Transportation – We pretty much took a taxi everywhere (the hotels are able to call one for you).

Best of the Best – The best part of this trip is truly the diversity of experiences. You feel like a local at the famous Fish Fry and it feels like you’re in a music video at Noah’s Ark. The romantic Positano-like dinner was a fabulous switch-up while local cuisine left our mouths watering.

PRO TIPS :

1
Get Groceries Resort prices are always high. If you are able to get to a grocery store (we had one across from our resort), I'd recommend getting a few snacks, food items and water to stock your fridge.
2
Carry Cash Carrying cash for taxis is the best way to go. You will need a taxi getting around most places (dinner, the Noah's Ark boat port, the fish fry and pretty much everywhere else). Tip your drivers and bring cash soley for taxis. *** The speedboat to Noah's Ark was $30 round trip (check for price increases) and cash only. That doesn't not include the taxi to get to the speedboat port, roundtrip. There are also boat excursions (via catamaran) that will take you there for the day. This option may be good for bigger parties.
3
Book a Table at Noah's Ark If you plan to stay at Noah's Ark all day, you may want to book a table. Space is so limited that you may feel packed in like sardines. We did not book a table because we didn't stay all day. It's fun to make a late entrance but I recommend getting there early to secure space, swim, eat, dance, take pics and leave!
4
Do an Excursion in Your Area We were debating doing an excursion that would require us to get on a small plane to fly to another part of the island. While that is necessary in places like The Bahamas, we are glad we didn't do that. We did a very similar tour where we were staying (Providenciales) without it eating up our entire day and night.
