Have you ever heard the term perma-vactioner? Visiting Singapore is the first time that I feel like I could truly live away from home. This island country takes the cake for the perfect mix of city, suburbs and beaches. The movie Crazy Rich Asians perfectly captures the beauty of the island. Even if you don’t like rom-coms, watch for the location scouting – trust me!
The food is excellent, the city is impeccably clean (google “gum in Singapore”), and there are countless attractions that will dazzle you! I went with a best friend and left with local lifelong friends! The memories that I made in SG, I will talk about for the rest of my life.
PS – This was partly a business trip for me so my accomodations were free.

Accommodation – We absolutely adored Oasia Hotel Downtown! The room, the staff, the food, the staff, and did I say…. the staff ? Everything was amazing! The happy hour was awesome. It was always nice to know you can come back to the hotel if you don’t feel like chasing the night and have a great convo over a cocktail. As mentioned, that staff was amazing! My only regret is that I didn’t make friends with them personally. They were truly that sweet.
Can we please talk about the pool? Incredible! Our room overlooked the stunning pool. Most days it took us much longer than expected to get out of the hotel because after buffet-style breakfast, we would lounge poolside in our bungalow, take a dip and drink the most delicious cappuccinos in the world! Fun fact – I was not a coffee person before Singapore. Now I mimic how they made them daily. Oh, the staff knew I loved the cappuccinos and gifted me the coffee beans before I checked-out #❤️.
Food – There are many fancy restaurants, like what I believe to be the best rooftop in the world – CÉ LA VI Singapore, but you must try as many Hawker Centers as possible! Hawker centers are where most locals eat. They are a collection of street food vendors in an à-la-cart, outdoor lunch room style. The most popular is the Lau Pa Sat Festival Pavilion. Another one that I loved is Newton Food Centre. but you cannot go wrong at any hawker center! If I can quote Crazy Rich Asians…
“Each of these hawker stalls sells pretty much one dish, and they’ve been perfecting it for generations. You know, this is one of the only places in the world where street food vendors actually earn Michelin stars.“

Transportation – It is probably unfair that I call every well-functioning public transportation system in a beautiful city “a clean NYC” but…. it feels like a clean NYC! There is not as many trains nor is it as crowded, but it’s super clean and easy to navigate. Singapore does not have Uber or Lyft but you can download a similar app called, Grab.

Best of the Best – There are so many posh experiences to be had in Singapore yet somehow one of my favorite experiences was a farm lunch. I met a few friends on the business part of my trip. They took me to Bollywood Farms and I truly felt like a local. Meet new friends – don’t be shy to talk to people and stay connected forever 🥰
